Albert Marcus Mathis, 82, of Sagerton, Texas passed away on October 22, 2012 at Haskell Memorial Hospital in Haskell, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Rule, Texas with Rev.John Greeson officiating. Burial will be at the Rule cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home.
Albert was born in Sagerton, Texas on February 27, 1930 to Robert Ewing Mathis and Lora Thelma Malone Mathis. He was a lifelong resident of Sagerton and was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church in Rule, Texas. He attended Tarleton State University with a BA in Mechanical Arts. Albert was a major in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1955 comissioned into reserves in 1953 and stayed until 1976. He was a farmhand for A.T. Bland. He was a member of the Rule Cemetery Association.
He is survived by a two brothers, Harmon Mathis and wife Nan of Seymour (and Sagerton), and Marvin Mathis of Goodwill, Oklahoma; two sisters, Addline Kohout of Stamford, Texas, Veeta Reid of Dallas; sister-in-law Marjorie Mathis of Hulbert, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Lora Mathis; brother Ewing Lee Mathis; sister Geraldean Stengel; and brother-in-law David Kohut.
