Albert Steinfath, 89, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 in Lubbock. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Haskell with Pastor David White officiating. Burial will follow services at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Plainview.
Albert was born December 28, 1926 in Throckmorton County, to Selma (Rueffer) and August Steinfath. Following his childhood in the Haskell area, Albert moved away to serve in the United States Marine Corps. He later attended Texas Tech University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture Economics. He married Shirley Hairgrove on January 29, 1961 in Lubbock. Together they farmed in Hale and Swisher counties and were members of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Plainview.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hairgrove Steinfath; two daughters, Shirley Anne and husband Tim Burt of Lubbock, Amy and husband Karlyle Haaland of Dalhart; his son, Samuel Steinfath and his wife Terri of McKinney; his sister, Lena Steinfath of Leveland; one granddaughter, Chloe Haaland; and four grandsons, Kaleb, Josef, Eli, and Adam Haaland.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Selma and August Steinfath; his four brothers, Fritz, August, Henry, and Willie; and his five sisters, Annie, Minnie, Selma, Alma, and Frieda.
