Robert Alexander "Alex" Daws of Throckmorton, Texas passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Throckmorton Memorial Hospital in Throckmorton. Mr. Daws was 84. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Throckmorton with Rev. Jay Gage and Rev. Peter Parker officiating. Interment followed at Woodson Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Alex was born January 1, 1929 in Seymour, Texas to Grace (Fancher) and Turner Titus Daws. Alex served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and is a graduate of Texas Tech University. He married Mildred Pauline Fife on April 28, 1951 in Breckenridge. Mrs. Daws preceded him in death March 28, 2012. Alex was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the Shriners. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Throckmorton.
In addition to Pauline, Alex is preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Turner Daws; 2 daughters, Paula Sue Daws and infant Lisa Marie Daws; and 1 sister, Dorothy Lee.
He is survived by his 3 brothers, Bill Daws of Corpus Christi, Charlie Daws and wife Pat of Mathis, Texas, Ben Daws and wife Betty of Throckmorton; his 1st cousin, Betty Sue Alexander; and numerous nieces' nephews and treasured friends.
