Alvin "Durwood" Qualls Sr, of Knox City, Texas, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, at the age of 92. Graveside services will be held at Rochester Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2015 under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation will take place Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. located at 210 Ave A, Knox City.
Durwood was born November 18,1922 in O'Brien,Texas. He was raised in Rochester, but lived in Knox City most of his adult life. Durwood loved fishing at Miller Creek and also enjoyed bird watching especially dove.
He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce (Adkinson) Qualls; parents, James Henry Qualls and Bertha Mae (Hudspeth) Qualls; son, James Durwood; daughter, Linda Oliver; two brothers, Elton and Boyce Qualls; four sisters, twins Audie and Laudie ,Leatrice Reeves and the youngest Wanda.
Durwood is survived by his son, Alvin Qualls, Jr. of Bridgeport, Texas; four grandchildren, Dana Sluder of Olathe, Kansas, Donald Qualls of Ft. Worth, Texas,Christopher Qualls of Palacios, Texas, and David Oliver of Ft. Worth, Texas, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
