Angelica Perez Benavides

Angelica Perez Benavides, 79, a longtime resident of Haskell, TX, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. George Catholic Church, Haskell, with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Burial will follow services at Willow Cemetery, Haskell, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A rosary is planned for 6:00PM, Friday, October 29, 2021, at the funeral home, 304 N. 2nd St., Haskell.

Angelica was born May 5,1942 in Falfurrias, TX, to Petra (Ramirez) and Gil Perez. She loved music and dancing. She enjoyed sewing and family get togethers. She also was a longtime member of St. George Catholic Church in Haskell.

She is survived by her two daughters, Elsa Rodriguez and husband Amado of Knox City and Emlyn Escobedo and husband Rufino Jr. of Austin; two sons, Amador Benavides and wife Linda of San Angelo and Joe Benavides of Haskell; three sisters, Amelia Perez of Falfurrias, Janie Perez of Odem, Josefa Cabrera of Freemont, one brother, Alberto Perez of Houston; twenty-four grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gil and Petra Perez; husband, Amador Benavides; daughter, Zilda Benavides; two sons, Paul Benavides, Hilbert Benavides, Sr.; three grandsons, Joshua Escobedo, Benny Tafolla, and Valentine Tafolla; and numerous brothers and sisters.
