Anita Jo (Pittman) Medford, 93, lifetime resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away peacefully at her residence Friday, August 23, 2024.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2024 at the United Methodist Church in Haskell, Texas with Pastor Dusty Garrison officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. Visitation is planned for Sunday evening, August 25, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m, at the funeral home located at 304 N. 2nd Street, Haskell, Texas.
Anita was born December 26, 1930, in the small community of Knox City, Texas to William (Hut) and Robbie Pittman. Anita married Wilda D. Medford on November 20, 1949 in Haskell, Texas at the First United Methodist Church where she was a lifetime member, taught Sunday school, and played the piano for the Junior Choir. Anita and her husband, Wilda, owned and operated Medford Buick Pontiac in Haskell for forty-eight years. Anita was also a General Motors Honor Accountant for forty years. While in high school, Anita secretly used her lunch money to take private pilot lessons. On the day of her first solo flight, Anita called her mother to come watch her fly for the first time. Anita acquired her private pilot's license and continued flying with her husband and children for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, cross stitching blankets for her granddaughters, and spending time with her family. Prior to settling in Haskell, TX Anita and Wilda lived for a short time in Fairbanks, Alaska during the drought of the 1950's.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilda D. Medford, and her parents, William (Hut) and Robbie (Tate) Pittman.
Anita is survived by her daughter, Amy McKnight and her husband, Rob, of Haskell; son, Eddie Medford and his wife, Sue, of Graham, Texas; three granddaughters: Katie Negen and her husband, Chris, of Lubbock, Texas; Mollie Young and her husband, Chance, of Rockwall, Texas; and Paige Sagon and her husband Greg, of Keller, Texas; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Negen of Lubbock, Declan and Arlyn Young of Rockwall, and Hooper and Adelaide Sagon of Keller.
