Ann Summers

Patricia "Ann" Speck Summers peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home Thursday, May 30, 2024, in her home on Possum Kingdom Lake in Graford, Texas surrounded by her daughter. Graveside services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes in Haskell and will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:30 am at the Rochester Cemetery.

Ann was born June 8,1942 in Haskell, Texas to Robert and Shelly (Hanson) Speck. Ann grew up and lived in Rochester, attending Rochester School. Ann married Sammy Grindstaff in 1957. To that union were born two daughters, Sherry Grindstaff Harper and Kandy Grindstaff Hickerson. In 1964 Ann married her beloved Carl Summers. They had one son Robert "Rob" Carlton Summers. Carl preceded her in death in 2006. They lived in Abilene, Texas most of their married lives where Carl served in the United States Air Force.

During her life Ann worked at KRBC in Abilene and WBNS in Ohio where she wrote and produced commercials. Ann's love was her family. She traveled several states while putting together a family genealogy that is quite extensive. One of Her greatest treasures was traveling and visiting extended family in East Texas. Many trips were made with her 2 aunts, a cousin and often a family friend. Oh the stories they could tell but "What happens on road trips, stays on road trips". She also treasured the experience of a lifetime when she traveled to Negril, Jamaica with her daughters Sherry and Kandy and granddaughter Heather.

Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Carl and her parents.

Ann is survived by her daughters, Sherry Harper and husband Ed of Graford, and Kandy Hickerson and husband Ed of Abilene and a son Rob and Marie Summers of Abilene; grandchildren, Heather Garcia, R.C. Summers, Patricia Vanetten, Suzy Vega, Jacob Hernandez, Anessa Garcia, Ella Vega, Brice Summers, Carly Summers, Mac Summers; as well as several nieces and nephews.
