Aurora Rocha, lifelong resident of Knox City, Texas, passed away at her home Thursday morning, October 30, 2014. Mrs. Rocha was 85. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2014, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Knox City with Fr. John Cerikomalayii and Deacon Ruben Castaneda officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the services at Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A rosary is planned for 6:00 p.m., Sunday evening, November 2, at the funeral home in Knox City located at 210 Avenue A.
Aurora was born in Benjamin, Texas to Margarita (Solis) and Manuel Casillas, Sr., on October 31, 1928. She married Simon Rocha on June 5, 1944, in Knox City and they celebrated 61 loving years of marriage together before his death on November 25, 2005. Aurora enjoyed cooking for her family and visiting friends. She was a member of Santa Rosa Catholic Church.
In addition to Simon, Aurora is preceded in death by her parents, Margareta and Manuel Casillas; 7 brothers, Louis, Felipe, Grady, Arnold, Rudy, Edmund, and Manuel, Jr.; and 2 sisters, Celia and Nancy.
Aurora is survived by her son, Simon Rocha, Jr.; daughter, Carolina Rios and husband Lupe; grandchildren, Simon Charles and wife Cyndy, Lupe Jr. and Christy; great-grandchildren,Lisa Rocha, Tiffany Rios, Whitney Large, Dawn Munoz, Bryce Munoz and Nyome Munoz; and great-great grandchildren, Lauren and Jackney. She is also survived be many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
