Auta Marion

October 5, 1934 — June 24, 2025

Auta Marion (née Parker), born on October 5, 1934, in Erath, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, in Knox City, Texas. She was 90 years old.

Auta's life was rooted deeply in her faith, family, and the simple joys of home. A proud Texan through and through, she grew up in a large and loving family. Though her formal education concluded after the eighth grade, Auta's determination led her to earn her GED later in life—a testament to her strong will and sharp intellect. Those who knew her often marveled at her remarkable memory; she had a mind like a steel trap and never forgot a detail.

She was a devoted member of the Foursquare Church, where she found spiritual strength and community throughout her life. Her faith was a guiding light that shaped her values and daily actions.

Auta found immense joy in being a housewife—a role she embraced. Over the years, she also had several jobs outside the home.  These included running a laundromat, selling Amway and working in Perrys Brothers Department Store.  Her home was always filled with warmth, delicious meals from her kitchen, and the comforting presence of someone who truly loved caring for others. She delighted in cooking for her family, shopping, solving word puzzles with ease, and spending quiet hours with adult coloring books. These hobbies brought her peace and pleasure, but nothing compared to visiting with her family and friends.

Family was the cornerstone of Auta's world. She shared many cherished years with her beloved husband of 55 years, Joe Marion until his passing. Together they built a legacy of love that continues through their children: Roland Marion and his wife Sue, and Bob Marion and his wife Kathy.

Her grandson Roger Marion and his wife Susan brought further joy into her life, as did her great-grandson Ethan Marion.

Auta also remained close to her siblings throughout the years. She is survived by Dena King, Veta Blackwell, Daron Parker, Jerry Parker, Peggy Bearden, Darrell Parker, and Kenneth Parker. She now reunites in peace with those who passed before her: siblings Dub Parker, O.C. Parker, Wanda Bearden and with cherished friends.

Her unwavering devotion to family left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Whether offering wisdom drawn from decades of experience or simply lending an attentive ear at the kitchen table, Auta made everyone feel seen and valued.

May Auta Marion's memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on in every shared story around the dinner table and every act of kindness inspired by her example.
