Bessie May Green longtime resident of Paint Creek, Texas passed away early Friday morning, June 28, 2013. She was 92. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2013 at Paint Creek First Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial is immediately following at Howard Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Sunday evening, June 30 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Haskell.
Bessie May and her twin sister, Jessie Fay, were born on December 22, 1920 in Osage, Arkansas to John P. and Bertha Mertle (Bishop) McMillion. She married Larnce Otis Green in Haskell on June 19, 1949. He preceded her in death in 2006.
Bessie and Jessie married the Green brothers, Larnce Otis and Durvin Raymond Green, once married, the two couples lived across the street from one another. The four remained very close throughout their lives and spent as much time together as possible. She loved to shop with sister, Jessie, and their favorite spot was The Dollar General in Anson. She was a wonderful cook and took loving care of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Paint Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bertha McMillion; husband, Larnce Green; son, James Keith Edwards; twin sister, Jessie Fay Green; and three brothers, Floyd, Fred, and Frank.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her 3 sons, Larry Edwards of Haskell, Rickie Green and wife Barbara of Sanger, Texas, Bill Green and wife Lura of Lake Dallas, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Robby Edwards, Brian Edwards, John Edwards, Estelle Allen, Scott Green, Joshua Green, Cody Green and Dana Green; and 18 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Linda Edwards.
Serving as pallbearers for Mrs. Green are her grandchildren, Brian Edwards, Scott Green, Will Green, Joshua Green, Cody Green, and Tyson Green.
