Betty Minefee Briscoe, 80, of Rule, Texas passed away March 24, 2013 at Anson General Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Rule, Texas with Rev. Scott Hensley officiating and burial in Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Betty was born in Purdon, Texas on June 11, 1932 to Artie Newton and Hettie Lou Putman. She was married to the late Joseph William Minefee, Jr. for 36 years. She later married Bill Briscoe, having 20 years together. She was a housewife and a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church in Rule.
She is survived by her husband Bill Briscoe of Rule; a son, Joe Minefee and wife Valerie of Midland; two daughters, Barbara Stulir and husband Johny of Rule, and Patty Spyres and husband Earl of Idalou; a stepdaughter, Tina Threet and husband Terry of Rule; nine grandchildren; a sister, Doris Wheat and husband Walter of Abilene; a brother, Ralph Putman of Corsicana; and 22 nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Artie Newton and Hettie Lou Putman; husband Joseph William Minefee, Jr.; a grandson, Michael Brandon Stulir; four brothers, Chester Putman, Glendon Putman, Artie (Junior) Putman, and Donald Putman; and two sisters, Mildred Putman (infant), and Cordena Wood.
