Betty Ruth (Russell) White, 80, a lifelong resident of Rochester, TX, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Foursquare Church, Knox City with Reverend Gary Schnable officiating. The service will be under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City.

Betty was born July 11, 1936 in Rochester, to Sallie Ruth (Davenport) Russell and William Paul Russell. She attended school in Rochester and later graduated from Knox City High School in 1954. She moved to Oklahoma City for many years before returning to Rochester in 1974. Betty married Ray White on June 29, 1997 in Rochester. She worked at Sears for many years, was a Census Taker and later worked for Smith Family Funeral Homes. However, working with her husband as campground hosts and managers at national parks in Colorado was her favorite occupation. She was a member and pianist of the Foursquare Church in Knox City.

She is survived by her two grandchildren, Jason Paul Jones of Andrews, and Megan Tamara Wilson and husband Brian of Kansas City, MO; her three great grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Russell Lee of Odessa; her brother, Ricky Ray Russell and wife Margaret of Rule; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sallie Ruth and William Paul Russell; her husband, Ray White; her daughter, Larissa Ann Jones; her son, Kevin Russell Jones; her brother, Kenneth Paul Russell; her sister, Jo Evelyn Russell Patterson; her special aunt, Myrtle Russell; and several uncles.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Knox City Four Square Church or your favorite charity.
