Billie Jean McAuley, 88, a longtime resident of Knox City, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 in Munday. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Knox City Cemetery, with Reverend Robert Harrison officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City.

The youngest of eleven children, Billie was born February 4, 1928 in Knox City, to Julia Arminda (Privett) and Samuel Jackson Reeves. She graduated from O'Brien High School in 1945 and married Frank W. McAuley on December 21, 1945 in Rochester. While Frank farmed, Billie worked for WTU and ASCS. She was also the office manager of Wes-Tex Coupon Clearing House for 26 years, retiring at age 65. Wanting to stay active, Billie spent the next 19 years working part time as a receptionist for Citizens Bank. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Knox City, an avid golfer and enjoyed animals, especially her dogs. She never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, her parents, two brothers and eight sisters.

She is survived by a host of adoring nieces, nephews, and friends.
