Billie Jones Parsons left her earthy home and entered her heavenly home on Thursday, June 17, 2021. She was born to Cecil W. and Edna Ashby Jones on July 6, 1926 in Weinert, Texas. She was one of four girls delivered on that day by the late Dr. J.F. Cadenhead, Sr. She married Truett Parsons on August 16, 1946 in Haskell, Texas. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mom and dad resided in Haskell most of their married life and worked side by side at Bailey Toliver Chevrolet Oldsmobile before moving to Arlington, Texas in 1972. While in Arlington they both worked for the Vandergriff Dealerships. They retired and moved back to Haskell and Lake Stamford in 1987. They were known for their hospitality giving fish fries at the lake. Mother is a two time breast cancer survivor. Mother is a past president of the Roger Cox American Legion Post. She is a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and The Friendly Folks Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Truett; parents, Cecil and Edna Jones; and brother, Cecil E. Jones.
She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Blackmore and husband Ronnie of Abilene, Sheila Snodgrass and husband Patrick of Haskell; brother, Dale Jones of Houston; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service for mother will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church, Haskell with Pastor Nadine llunga officiating. Burial will follow service at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Weinert under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00PM, Monday, June 21, 2021 at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd St., Haskell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent in Billies's name to First United Methodist Church, 201 N Ave F., Haskell, TX, or a charity of your choice.
