Billie Juanell Ray, age 83, and longtime resident of Haskell, Texas passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014, in Irving, Texas where she has lived the last 7 years. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Haskell Church of Christ with Mr. Philip Sims officiating. Burial will take place immediately following in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Tuesday evening, May 6 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home located at 304 N. 2nd Street.


Juanell was born to Nellie and O.P. Collins on July 28, 1930. She married the love of her life, Billie Jack Ray on February 4, 1950. They lived in Haskell until B.J. got sick and move to Irving, Texas of March 2009 to be near their niece, Debbie Miller Brantley. Juanell worked at Smitty's Auto Supply all her working years. She was a member of the Haskell Church of Christ.


She was preceded in death by her husband, B.J. Ray; her parents; brother, Buddy Collins.


Juanell is survived by her niece, Debbie Brantley of Irving, Texas; sister, Lois Miller and husband James of Coppell, Barbara Sells of Iowa Park; nieces, Kara Kelly and Cene Dean; and nephew Craig Johnson.


Juanell had a circle of angels who adopted her and she adopted them. Her eyes lit up when they visited and cared for her each week. Karen Owens, Debe Nichols, Mary Bilyeu, Pam Durbin, and Teresa Mulkey, you all are true blessings and angels.
