Billy Joe (Bill) Briscoe, 78 of Rule, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016, in Haskell. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 17, 2016, at the Church of Christ in Haskell. Burial will follow at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16, 2016, from 6-7:00 PM at the funeral home, 304 N. Second Street.
Bill was born February 24,1938 in Newcastle, Texas, to Iscum Thurman Briscoe and Addie Alvis (Baxter) Briscoe. He married Alice Marie Williams on July 31,1957. Bill was a longtime resident Weinert, before moving to Rule. He loved kids, watching old movies on tv, racing cars, and flying model airplanes.
He is survived by one daughter, Tina Threet and husband Terry of Rule; Four sisters, Gean Blair of Haskell, Barbara Huckabee, of Weinert, Evelyn Wright of Abilene, Betty Stocks and husband Jerry of Haskell; three brothers, Thurman and wife Rosalea of Midland, Jerry and wife Linda of Haskell, Ronnie and wife Pam of Abilene; Granddaughter Stephanie Threet of Rule, Grandson Hunter Threet of Rule, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill, is preceded in death by is wife Alice Marie; his parents,Thurman and Addie Briscoe;
and sons Bobby and Ricky Briscoe.
