Billy Charles Ejem, Sr.

Billy Charles Ejem, 57 of Granbury, Texas passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Dallas, Texas as a result of complications from pneumonia. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Smith Family Funeral Home located at 304 N. 2nd Street in Haskell with Rev. Dave Harrison officiating. Interment with Honors will take place immediately following at Willow Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home. Visitation is beginning at noon Saturday morning prior to the services.

Billy was born March 25, 1956 in Knox City, Texas to Matilda Ejem. He married Theresa Eller Ejem of Breckenridge who preceded him in death in 1991. He entered the U.S. Army on May 27, 1977 and served with the 41st Infantry for three years as a vehicle mechanic and was awarded as a sharpshooter and hand grenade 2nd class. Billy was honorably discharged May 26, 1980 from Ft. Hood, Texas.

He worked in the area for several years in various jobs. The last 10 years, Billy has managed a small privately owned ranch in Granbury, Texas. He enjoyed being outdoors and his favorite thing was working on, riding on, or playing on a John Deere tractor. He loved being with his grandchildren and spending time with them and enjoyed watching wrestling.

He is preceded in death his mother, Matilda Ejem; and wife, Theresa Ann (Eller) Ejem.

Billy is survived by a daughter, Patricia McGuire of Elkhart, Kansas; and son, Billy Charles Ejem, Jr. of Granbury, Texas; 3 step-daughters, Jennifer and Robin Weeks of Breckenridge; LeAndra Wood of Granbury; several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers for Billy are Billy Ejem, Jr., LeAndra Wood, Justin Wood, Brian Walker, Kenneth Dewayne Ejem, and Scott Moore.
