Billy Ray Fowler

Billy Ray Fowler, 89, was born August 18, 1935 in Goldthwaite, Texas to Leslie and Sarah (June) Fowler. He passed away February 16, 2025 in Olney, Texas. A funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton, Texas. Rev. Peter Parker will be officiating under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton. Burial will follow the services at the Throckmorton Cemetery.

He graduated Throckmorton High School in 1953. Billy Ray met Patsy Yarbrough and married January 15, 1958.  Billy and Patsy owned and operated the Conoco Service Station for over 30 years. He served on several committees and taught Sunday School classes. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was on the Throckmorton V.F.D. from 1969 to 2000. He served as Throckmorton JP from 1979 to 2016. He also was in the Army from 1957 to 1959 where he was a helicopter mechanic and was in the 82nd Airborn. He also was on the board for the Throckmorton Cemetery. Billy Ray served on the City Council, and also coached several Little League teams.

Billy Ray is survived by his wife, Pat and 2 sons, Ray Fowler and wife Gayle, and Gary Fowler and wife Kathy all of Throckmorton; 6 grandchildren, Maryane Jernigan and husband Larry, Jay Fowler and wife Ashley, Amy Schroeder, Will Fowler and wife Melissa, David Fowler, John Fowler and wife Shawnee; 2 sisters, Sarah Morris and Sue Thurman; 7 great-great grand children, and several nephews, and nieces.

He preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Sarah (June) Fowler; brother, Paul Fowler; and great grandson Wyatt Fowler.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made ti the building fund, Throckmorton First Baptist Church, or any organization of your choosing.

Serving as pallbearers are, Jay Fowler, Will Fowler, John Fowler, David Fowler, Hunter Schroeder, Brady Schroeder, Larry Jernigan, and Bradlee Jernigan.
