Birdie Florence Helton

Birdie Florence Helton, 83, a lifelong resident of Knox City, TX, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, Knox City. Burial will follow services at the Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00PM, Monday, July 26, 2021, at the funeral home, 210 Ave A, Knox City, TX.

Birdie was born February 24, 1938 in Knox Co, on Bush and Burnett Ranch to Minnie O. (Camp) and Forest Dudley Reeves. She married Bobby Joe Helton on October 19, 1957 in Rochester, TX and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Birdie was a part owner of PBH oilfield supply. She loved reading, and spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. Birdie was a true friend to everybody.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Joe Helton of Knox City; daughter, Tammie Hosea of Bullard, Tx; granddaughter, Katelan Schmidt of McKinney; grandson, Matthew Hosea and wife Courtney of Omaha, NE; 3 great-granddaughters, Parker Schmidt of McKinney, Logyn Hosea, Collyns Hosea both of Omaha, NE; sister, Faye Corley of Mineola, TX; sister-in-law, Penny Adkins and husband Robert of Sweetwater; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and Forest Reeves; 2 sisters, Ruthie Routen, and Betty Minzer.
