Bisente (Bennie) Flores, 77, longtime Haskell resident passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 while in Vitas Hospice home care in North Richland Hills, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home, 304 N. 2nd Street, Haskell, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2012 at St. George Catholic Church in Haskell with Father George Romey and Deacon Julian Estrada officiating. Burial will be at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Bisente was born August 27, 1934 in San Saba, Texas to Jose and Juana (Vasquez) Flores. He grew up in San Saba and moved to Haskell in 1975, making this his hometown. Bisente married Frances Viola in Coolidge, Arizona on May 24, 1945. She preceded him in death on October 21, 1997. He worked most of his live as a farmer/rancher and had a love for farming and gardening. Bennie enjoyed western movies and The Dallas Cowboys. His greatest love, however, were his family and grandchildren.
Along with his wife, Frances, Bennie is also preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Juana Flores, and 2 children, Joe and Connie Flores.
He is survived by 2 sons, Henry Flores and wife Edgwena of Haskell, Emeterio (Happy) Flores of Ft. Worth; 5 daughters, Janie Flores of Keller, Lydia Flores, Irma Flores, and Sallie Flores all of North Richland Hills, Rebeca Lovelace and husband Don of Roanoke; 9 grandchildren, Kira, Travis, Gabriella, Daniel, Tiffany, Jonathan, Bre'Ana, Taylor, Isabella; and 3 great-grandchildren, Zachery, Lukas, and Mya Elizabeth.
Pallbearers are Jackie Escobedo, Travis Poteet, Johnathan Estrada, Jerry Soto, Johnny Soto, and Don Lovelace.
