Robert (Bob) Earles, 76, of Haskell, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Orient Street Church of Christ in Stamford, Texas. A visitation is planned from 5:00 to 6:00pm, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd Street, Haskell, Texas. Mr. Wes Horn will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Howard Cemetery, Paint Creek, Texas under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.

Bob Earles was born in Haskell, Texas to R V and Violet Earles, August 3, 1949. He had 2 older sisters, Judy and Sandy.

He attended Paint Creek School from grades 1-12 and graduated in 1967. In high school, he played basketball, played football, ran track, was in FFA, was on the annual staff, and was an honor student.

He was very active in Boy Scotts and was awarded the Eagle Scout rank.

He attended A&M University and Tarleton. Then joined the United States Navy and served in Da Nang, Vietnam. He was honorably discharged and returned home to Paint Creek to farm.

In 1976 he met a school teacher named Debbie Lewis in May, and on July 11, they married. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past July.

Bob and Debbie had their first son Aaron in 1978 and Cole in 1982. Bob was always very involved with his sons’ activities. He coached their Little League and Little Dribblers teams. As they got into Jr. High and High School he attended every game either the boys were in. His coaching from the stands caused the basketball referee to ask him (not so politely) to leave the game once!

Bob and Terry Blanks built a grill on a trailer and cooked thousands of hamburgers for track meets, church activities, Little Leagues, and others.

Bob enjoyed deer hunting and he had access to “Hendricks” behind the lake. We spent many fun hours fishing and seeing the wildlife there with friends.

He and his best friend Eddie Chambers always had a deer lease together. For years it was at Ozona. The first time Aaron went, he wasn’t even 3 years old yet! Both Aaron and Cole grew up hunting and farming. The love of the land and appreciation of the outdoors passed down to all 5 grandchildren, 3 of whom love to hunt and all 5 love the farm and ranch.

Bob’s grandchildren were his delight. Aaron and Tisa’s daughter Blair was born in 2013. Three months later Cole and Morgan’s son Lawson was born. Then in 2015, Aaron and Tisa’s daughter Reese was born and 3 months later, Cole and Morgan’s son Easton was born, in 2019 Cole and Morgan added Tucker to the family.

Bob’s church family includes Paint Creek Baptist, Haskell Church of Christ, and Orient Street Church of Christ in Stamford.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Earles of Haskell, Texas; sons, Aaron Earles of Abilene, Texas, Cole and wife Morgan of Austin, Texas; 5 grandchildren. Other cousins and family; Lezlie Michael, Ryan McWhorter, Don Erwin, Joe Bob Earles, Anne Earles Lichty, Robbie Peiser, Rhonda Hanson, Phyllis Coleman, Julie Coleman, Vanessa Shipplet, Debbie Miller, Jessica Miller, Dale Middlebrook, Margie Earles Daniels, Kathy Greenlee, and numerous other family and friends.
