Bobby Dixon

March 25, 1928 — April 11, 2013

Robert "Bobby" Neil Dixon, formally of Throckmorton, Texas and most recently of Ardmore, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at his home in Ardmore. Mr. Dixon was 85. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Church of Christ in Throckmorton with Mr. Greg Melton officiating. Interment will follow the services at Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned for Monday evening, April 15 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bobby Dixon was born March 25, 1928 in Grand Saline, Texas to O.L. and Floyd (Robertson) Dixon. He married Syble Rowell on August 8, 1950 in Seymour, Texas and the two made Throckmorton their home. Bobby and Syble were married 52 years when Syble passed away in 2002. Bobby is a retired oil field contracter and a member of the Church of Christ in Throckmorton where he faithfully served as Deacon. Bobby enjoyed playing bridge, loved the outdoors and was a history buff favoring WWII. Bobby served in the U.S. Marines from 1946 to 1948.

In addition to Syble, Bobby is also preceded in death by his parents O.L. and Floyd Dixon; and 1 sister, Gloria Rankin.

Bobby will be missed by his son, David Neil Doxon of Lafayette, LA and his wife Cynthia; 2 daughters, Debra Dixon of Ardmore, OK, and Robin McCuskey of Lakewood, CA and husband Jim; 3 grandchildren, Andrew Dixon, Daniel McCuskey, and Samantha McCuskey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
