Bobby Joe Helton

Bobby Joe Helton, 87, a longtime resident of Knox City, TX, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Rochester, TX, cemetery. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00PM, Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the funeral home, 210 Ave A, Knox City, TX.

Bobby Joe was born August 21, 1933 in Haskell Co, to Grace M. (Gunnels) and Pete M. Helton. He married Birdie Reeves on October 19, 1957 in Rochester, TX and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Bobby Joe was a proud husband, father, farmer, and rancher. He managed the Paymaster Gin in Rochester for 32 years. He loved rodeo, playing dominos, and cards.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammie Hosea of Bullard, Tx; granddaughter, Katelan Schmidt of McKinney; grandson, Matthew Hosea and wife Courtney of Omaha, NE; 3 great-granddaughters, Parker Schmidt of McKinney, Logyn Hosea, and Collyns Hosea both of Omaha, NE; sister, Penny Adkins and husband Robert of Sweetwater; numerous nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Pete Helton; and wife, Birdie Helton.
