Bonita Brite, 96, passed under the care of Beyond Faith Hospice, and The Seymour Nursing Home & Rehab facility on March 14, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton.
Bonita was born July 9, 1927 in Gorman, Texas to Maggie Shelton & LeRoy Brite at the Gorman Hospital.
After graduating high school she completed with satisfactory evidence of good moral character & fulfilling all requirements prescribed by law a Texas Education Teachers Permanent High School Certificate on September 2, 1952. This certificate allowed her to teach all grades and valid for life. She then went on to Denton, Texas and was a member of the Pi Omega Pi in 1946. Her greatest joy was teaching typing at a small school in Arizona where her brother was principle. There she also enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing on the stream that was just beside her home.
After retiring she returned home and her & her mother cared for her brother Tom until he passed due to cancer. She stayed in that little house on Benjamin street and then cared for her mother until her passing. She then began to enjoy her retirement and traveled to many States and always liked camping out at the State Parks and also visited many estate sale along the way. She was an avid sewer & crocheter and even was a fabulous oil painter.
Bonita was blessed with one Niece, Liana Noblitt of California. Bonita was a wonderful person with many great talents however she willl probably be most remembered for her sense of humor and love for others.
