Bruce Richardson

August 26, 1947 — January 3, 2024

Curtis Bruce Richardson, 76, of Throckmorton, Texas, entered heaven's gate on January 3, 2024.  A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 3:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Throckmorton, with Pastor Jim Wright officiating under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton.

Bruce was born in Olney, Texas on August 26, 1947 to Curtis Bruce Richardson, Sr. and Roberta Woolfolk Richardson. He graduated from Throckmorton High School in 1965 before earning a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 1971.

If anyone knew how to love life and make people laugh, it was Bruce. He was known for his kind heart and sense of humor. When people described him, they would say he always had a kind word and a smile. For Bruce, helping others was second nature. He would take the shirt off of his back to help anyone in need. He made people laugh constantly with his quirky sense of humor. His mischievous smile spoke volumes about his personality.

He was a rancher, a farmer, ran a bulldozer for the community and a welder. Bruce was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Throckmorton. In his later years, he raised Mini Australian Shepherds and enjoyed restoring AirStream campers. His favorite thing to do was tell stories from his rambunctious past. He was also a history buff! He could tell stories about his long line of relatives.

Bruce loved being a PawPaw, a dad, step-dad, an uncle, and friend to everyone.

His favorite companion dog, Cass, never left his side.

Bruce was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Jean Richardson Timmons, his mother, Roberta Richardson, and his father, Curtis Richardson. He is survived by his daughter, Carrie Richardson and her son Tyler Richardson of Wichita Falls, his daughter Kayla Richardson Sparks and her husband Troy, son Hunter, daughter Tristan, and son Peyton Sparks of Coleman, and his love, Debbie Davis, of Throckmorton, her daughters Amy and Jenny and their families, along with many more extended family members.

Bruce will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. He will be dearly missed.
