Bud Pace , 96, a lifelong resident of Haskell, Texas passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 9:00AM, Monday, May 10, 2021, at Willow Cemetery, Haskell with Rev. Jason Isbell officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.
Bud was born November 29, 1924 in Haskell, Texas to Willie Grace (Stephens) and William Lynn Pace. He went to college at TCU and played in the band there until he was drafted into WWII. He was a Staff Sergeant stationed at Oahu, Pearl Harbor. Bud served in Saipan, Tinian, Marinas Islands, Okinawa, Ryukyu's Islands, and in Korea along the 38th parallel at Kimpo Air Base. He was awarded the Harry S. Truman Presidential Citation for Meritorious Service on Saipan. After 30 months of service he was discharged in January 1946, and was a very proud serviceman. He married Flora Pace on October 14, 1950. Bud loved farming, and spending time with his family. He also loved his church family where he served as a deacon for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Flora Pace of Haskell; son, Jim Pace of Haskell; two granddaughters, Misti Isbell and husband Jason and their children Logan, Aubrey, and Carley of Haskell, Emily Wilson and husband Trajan and their children, Presley and Rilynn of Haskell; grandson, Randall Pace of Haskell and his children Krislyn, Lilly, and Emma of Abilene; great grandchildren, K'lee of Rankin, Wyatt of Oklahoma; two nephews, Patrick Pace and wife Carmel of Rule, Sam Pace and wife Twyla of Abilene; and many great nieces, nephews and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Willie and William Lynn Pace, Sr.; brother, William Lynn Pace, Jr.; sister, Janice O'Neal; and grandson, Riley Pace III.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bud's name to the First Christian Church, Haskell.
