Burl Lynn Moses

Burl Lynn Moses, 88, of Throckmorton, TX, passed way Friday, August 5, 2022. A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the Throckmorton Cemetery, with Rev. Pete Parker officiating. A visitation is planned from 6:00 - 7:00PM, Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Smith Family Funeral Home, 107 N. Austin, Throckmorton, TX.

Burl was born November 4, 1933, in Throckmorton County to Lorena (Williams) Moses and James Erskine Moses. He attended Cisco Junior College and graduated from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. After college he joined the United States Navy. He was a teacher for 10 years and also was a Banker for many years. He married Frances Paul on March 19, 1960 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Together they had two children. After retiring he moved back home to Throckmorton. He enjoyed watching and attending all sports, playing golf, and fishing. Burl loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Burl was a member of the First Christian Church in Woodson, Tx.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Moses; two sons, Robin Moses of Ponder, TX and Tracy Moses of Valley View, Tx; six grandchildren, Megan Voyles and spouse Jacob of Lone Oak, OK, Kaleb Moses and spouse Faith of Lewisville, TX, McKaylah Moses of North Richland Hills, TX, Garrett Moses of Abilene, TX, Jayson Norman and spouse Melony of Oklahoma City, OK, Sara Norman of Denton, TX; three great grandchildren, River Voyles, Charlie Jane Voyles, Julius Norman; three sisters, Patricia Reedy, Melinda Noble and spouse Roy, and Sharon Noble; and many loved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Erskine Moses and Metha Lorene Williams Coffelt; brother, Van Franklin Moses; sister-in-law, Veoma Moses; and grandson Micah Moses.
