Carol Grand, age 88, of Haskell went home to be with her Lord on Monday, June 9, 2025 in Abilene. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 2:00pm at the Willow Cemetery with Rev. Brian Hevrin officiating under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.
Carol was born February 23,1937 in Longview, Texas to M. W. and Ruby Mae (Boles) Robertson. She married J. L. "Bud" Grand on September 4, 1954. In her early years of marriage, she was a dedicated mother, farm wife, and spent hours helping Buddy in the field. She loved her children and was very involved with their activities. She and Bud spent many hours watching baseball games, attending numerous Boy Scout events including countless ceremonies at Camp Tonkawa at Buffalo Gap, always taking along Bud's parents, Eunice and John Grand.
She also worked for multiple local businesses including the grain elevator, Jordan Insurance, and Bassing Jewelry, antique stores owned by Ruby Turner and Gayla Nanny, Durene Boone, Peddler's Village and later had her own shop in her home. She loved antiques and collected them all her life. She and Bud went all over the state searching for out-of-the-way antique shops and found amazing treasures! Later, she enjoyed many trips and tours with her mother and friends. Before it closed, she loved meeting her friends at the Dairy Queen for coffee. She was a caregiver to many friends who needed help with rides to the doctor, beauty shop, and other places. They knew they could depend on Carol when they needed her. Gina and John's girls spent many overnights with Granny and Papaw. Leslie and Stephanie remember many visits to the Dairy Queen for ice cream. Hannah and Ashton remember playing ball in the driveway. She always told her grandkids and great-grandkids, "I love your little angel heart!".
She is preceded in death by her husband on September 23, 1992, her parents, and her 13-year-old sister Beverly Sue.
She is survived by her daughter, Gina Pike and her husband John of Rule, sons Steven Grand and his wife Pat and Tony Grand and his wife Meranda, both of Haskell. Grandchildren are Allison Klein, Lindsay Johnson, Leslie Jeanes, Stephanie Nauert, Hannah Strickland, and Ashton Grand. Great-grandchildren are Sofia and Sadie Klein, Noah Johnson, Maddox and Kylie Jeanes, Brynlee and Dawson Nauert, and Acelynn Strickland. She is also survived by her brother Billy Joe Robertson and his wife Joyce of Weinert and her brother-in-law Lee Moberley of Abilene, as well as has many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
