Cecil Edmond Bingham, 71, of Haskell, Texas passed away Monday morning, February 24, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2014 at East Side Baptist Church located at 600 N. 1st St. East in Haskell, Texas with Elder Dale Turner, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening, February 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church. Arrangements have been made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Cecil was born April 23, 1942 in Eagle pass, Texas to Thomas Benson Bingham and Georgia Faye Bryan. He married Wanda Sue New on May 21, 1983 in Stamford, Texas. He and Sue were a true testament of becoming one flesh for 30 years. He was a member at East Side Baptist Church and loved his church. A faithful husband and loving father to son, Scott Bingham and his wife Sylvia of Longview, Texas; stepfather to Tami Armstrong and husband Terry of Frisco, Texas; Ronnie Rea and wife Catherine of Lewisville, Texas; and Tammy Henthorn and husband Jimmy of Stamford, Texas. He was a wonderful "Pa" and "Pa Pa" to five grandkids and three great grandkids. He also loved his little Schnauzer, Daisy Mae.
Cecil had Cecil's Country Meat Market and Grocery for 25 years in Haskell, Texas and loved the people he came in contact with on a daily basis. He catered after the widow ladies and would pump their gas for them. He fulfilled the bible verse, "If a man would have friends, let him show himself friendly". He never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. Cecil had a tremendous work ethic. As the day of his passing, he was on his way to work. Even though Cecil was a member of East Side Baptist Church, he loved going to the Rule Primitive Baptist Church with his mom, sisters, and nephew.
Serving as pallbearers for Cecil are Joe Blake, Kenneth Bray, Darrell Grant, Benny Bredthauer, Luke Griffin, and Mike Fouts. Honorary pallbearers are Alan Mitchell, Mike New and Bobby Jenkins.
If desired, memorials can be given in Cecil's honor to the East Side Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas.
