Cecil Dale Turner, 74, of Iowa Park and former Knox City resident, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Knox City with Elders Larry Webb, Travis Brown, and Hugh Montgomery officiating. Visitation is planned for Monday evening, September 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Knox City. Arrangements have been made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

He was born November 22, 1927 in Kermit, Texas to William and Kathleen (Jackson) Turner. He married Janice LaRue Bingham on October 5, 1957. He and Janice were a true testament of becoming one flesh for 55 years. He became a faithful member of the Primitive Baptist Church and ordained as a deacon in 1992.

A faithful husband and loving father to three children, Dale Turner, Jr., and wife Gail of Knox City, Marsha Turner Durham and husband Curtis of Lampasas, Texas, and Karla Turner New and husband Jerry of Jarrell, Texas. He was a wonderful Pawpaw to 9 grandkids and Big Pops to 11 great-grandkids.

He served 8 years in the United States Air Force as an aircraft sheet metal repairman and 22 years in the Civil Service retiring at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. After retirement, he continued his trade in aircraft mechanics for 12 years.

He never met a stranger and fulfilled the bible verse, "If a man would have friends, let him show himself friendly."

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
