Charles Clarke

September 29, 1933 — March 3, 2021

Charles Granville Clarke, age 87 formerly of Knox City, Seymour, and more recently Lubbock, departed to his heavenly home on March 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. A Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 6 at Knox City Cemetery at 1:00 pm with Reverend Bobby King officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City.
Charles was born September 29, 1933 to Bill and Loree Branton Clarke in the Knox County Hospital, Knox City, Texas. He was a graduate of Knox City High School. After graduation, he went into farming and ranching for many years. An early marriage gave him two beautiful daughters who were the love of his life, Charlynn and Merri. Charles loved to work with wood and spent many hours enjoying building furniture, repairing antiques and also working with mesquite and cowhide furniture. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church for many years. He also belonged to Emmaus Community and was a 60+ year Mason which he enjoyed in his earlier years. He was also a licensed minister.  In 1982 Charlie married Peggy Whitten in Las Vegas NV. They enjoyed traveling and working on projects together.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of Lubbock, his daughters Charlynn and Dr W. L. Beason and Merri and Dean Wilson of Navasota, TX. Also his grandchildren Bill and Shannan Beason of Katy, Sarah and Antwan Lee of Navasota, Lauren and Chris Kubes of Iola, TX, Luke and Glenna Graham of Navasota. Also great grandchildren Emma and Anna Beason, Michael and Sean Kubes, Graham, Ava and Ali Lee, Addie and Kyle Ryland and their daughter Rylee and Dean and Silas Graham. Also surviving are his step children Terri Carnes and Kelli Whitten of Lubbock and Greg and Sandra Whitten of Coleman. Step grandchildren Jeremy Whitten, Courtney Carnes, Ashlee Whitten and Cole Whitten. Step great grandchildren Ethan, Tanner, Skylar and Jacob.
The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church Seymour or to the Knox City Meals on Wheels or their favorite charity.
