Charles Cruz Cortez

Charles Cruz Cortez, of Breckenridge, TX, passed away March 18, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, Throckmorton with Rev. Dannie Lee officiating. Burial will follow services at Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00PM, Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the funeral home, 107 N. Austin, Throckmorton, TX.

Charles was born January 15, 1971, in Throckmorton, TX to Amelia (Reyna) and Jesse Cortez. He married Angela (Martinez) on December 18, 2000 in Graham. He loved hunting and fishing. Charles was always working, quick witted, and fun loving. He owned and operated Throckmorton Tire Shop.

He is survived by his wife Angela Cortez of Breckenridge; 2 daughters, Jessica Cortez and spouse Shawna Green of Amarillo, Brittany Rosenberger and husband Andrew of Newton Falls, OH; 3 sons, Jacob Cortez and wife Jamie of Graham, Ray Cortez and wife Heather of Jacksonville, NC; Corbin Cortez and wife Taylor of Breckenridge; 3 grandchildren, Kyren, Hunter, Peyson, and one on the way; parents, Jesse and Amelia Cortez of Throckmorton; sister, Susan Looney of Wichita Falls; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Ray Cortez, Jesse Cortez, Jr., and Joe Cortez.
