Charles Ray Gober

Charles Ray Gober, 80, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Throckmorton County Memorial Hospital in Throckmorton, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Throckmorton, Texas with Rev. Jay Gage officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Wednesday, March 23, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home located at 107 N. Austin, Throckmorton, Texas.

Charles was born October 19,1935 in Throckmorton, Texas to E.C. "Bozo" Gober and Lometa (Massey) Gober. He graduated from Throckmorton High School in 1954 and Texas Christian University in 1958 with a Bachelor's degree in geology and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.

He married Sharon (Curtis) on June 14, 1958 and worked for Rotary Engineering as a Wellsite Geologist and Rockwell International before moving back to Throckmorton to raise his family in 1974.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett "Bozo" Gober and Lometa (Massey) Gober; a brother, Jack Gober and three grandchildren, Corie Ray, Cassie Lee and Chase.

Charles is survived by his wife, Sharon (Curtis) Gober of Throckmorton, Texas; four children, Clay, Charles Travis, Beth and Sharla Gober; grandsons, Joey and Jake Gober; one granddaughter, Taylor Eaton; and a brother, Jay Gober and his wife Becky.

Pallbearers are his nephews; Barry Gober, Corey Gober, Chris Gober, Dale Everett, Gus Moore, Greg Green, Jason Stewart and Jody Moore.
