Cliffton Ray Strickland, 77, of Rochester, Texas, passed away on March 31, 2026. He was born on November 23, 1948. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 6, 2026, at 10:00am, at the Rochester Cemetery, with Jack McClure officiating. A visitation is planned on April 6, 2026 from 9:00am until the service, at the funeral home, 200 S Lincoln Ave., Rochester, Texas.
He was born on November 23, 1948 to hardworking parents who instilled in him the values of dedication, resilience, and love for family—qualities he carried throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert Darrell and Willis Jay.
He is survived by his two sisters, Lonnetta Farrar and Teresa Yates, both of Rochester, Texas, and his brother Willie of Rochester. Cliff also leaves behind a legacy through his four children: Tina, IraLee, Valerie, and Chance. He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and was blessed with many great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Cliff graduated from Rochester High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he returned home and built a life rooted in hard work and determination. He spent many years working in the oilfield, later turning to farming and cowboying—ways of life that suited his strong spirit and deep connection to the land.
A true horseman, Cliff had a special gift when it came to working with horses. Whether doctoring, training, or using them inhis daily work, he carried a natural understanding and respect for them that few possess. He was also widely known for his skills as an electrician, handyman, and mechanic—able to fix just about anything that needed fixing.
Cliff had a deep love for his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He also enjoyed cooking, often bringingpeople together through good food and conversation. His life was marked by quiet strength, steady hands, and a heart devoted to those he loved.
He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his many talents, and the lasting impact he made on his family and community.
Cliffton Ray Strickland will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
