Dale George Hugley, 89, of Haskell, Texas passed away at his home Tuesday evening, November 19, 2013. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 23 at Willow Cemetery with Rev. Dustin Wilhite officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Dale was born in Phillips County, Kansas on May 15, 1924 to George Harvey Hugley and Maude Fourtner Hugley. He graduated from Adair High School, Oklahoma, in 1942 and from Oklahoma A&M College in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.
Dale served as a Navy lieutenant on the U.S.S. Holder in the Pacific during WWII. He was an Intercept Officer in the destroyer's Communications and Information Center. Following his military service and college, he had a long career in chemical engineering and design. He founded several companies, including Pulsation Engineering, Inc. and Square H Industries, and at one time held over 100 patents for his designs. He authored many significant articles on pumps, pulsation, and pipelines. He loved his engineering, cooking, and excellent foods. He traveled in the Northwest and Canada with his beautiful wife, Kay.
Dale is survived by his wife, Kay Strickland Hugley; sister, Melva Hampton; brother, Gerald Reed Hugley; mother-in-law, Doris Strickland; sister-in-law, Jeanie Ditto; brother-in-law, David Jim Strickland and wife Debbie; his 6 children, Patricia, Karen, Kathleen, Twila, Alan, David; and 12 grandchildren.
