Dallas Ray Dykes, 74, life-long resident of Knox City, passed away at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Abundant Life Church in Knox City with Rev. Tex Cox and Mr. Steve Pepper officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned for Saturday evening, December 26, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home located at 210 Ave. A., Knox City, Texas.
Dallas was born August 23, 1941 in Burlington,Colorado to Girth A. Dykes and Louise A. (Bigelow) Dykes. Dallas married Dorothy onJanuary 15, 1982 in Knox City, where they made their home. Dallas enjoyed golfing, drag racing and rodeoing. He was a member of Abundant Life Church in Knox City.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Girth A. Dykes and Louise A. (Bigelow) Dykes; wife, Dorothy Jean Dykes; and sister, Mavis Olsen.
Dallas is survived by daughter, Patti Lain Currie of Knox City, Texas; two grandchildren, Brandon Lewis of Knox City, Texas and Aaron Lewis of Burkburnett, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Skylar Lewis of Lubbock, Texas, Sloan Lewis, Lainy Lewis and Becca Lewis all from Burkburnett, Texas; two brothers, Allen Dykes; and Roger Dykes; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
