Danny Langford longtime resident of Rule, Texas, passed away Monday morning, October 27, 2014, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Danny was 65. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Haskell with Rev. Dan Bullock and Rev. Dave Harrison officiating. Danny will be laid to rest next to his mother at Willow Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Wednesday evening, October 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home located at 304 N. 2nd Street.
Danny was born March 8, 1949, in Haskell, Texas to Ruthie Nell (Griffis) and R.C. Langford. He is a 1967 graduate of Rule High School and attended Midwestern State University. Danny married Gaynell Kuenstler on March 27, 1970, in Haskell and Danny and Gaynell resided in the area for all of their 44 years of marriage and raising their 3 children. Danny was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served on the Rule City Council and Rule Volunteer Fire Department. He farmed and ranched and he worked the oil fields along side his dad, R.C.
The entire community of Haskell County will certainly miss the always high spirited, up beat, and friendly face of Danny Langford. His stories were good-natured, his faith was strong willed, and his love of life out poured whatever the conditions were. He was a shining example of a man with enthusiasm and vitality to his God, family, community, work and friends. Danny's memory will remain within the residents of Rule and Haskell County forever.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruthie Nell Langford.
Danny is survived by so many friends and family, but most importantly his wife, Gaynell of Rule; his daughter, Shanna Tibbets and husband Heath of Idalou, Texas; 2 sons, Shannon Langford and wife Carmin of Forney, Texas, and Brandon Langford of Haskell; his father, R.C. Langford of Rule; sister, Carolyn Sisson and husband Jack of Duncan, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Beverly Conrow and husband Stan of Haskell; uncles, Harley Langford and wife Opal of Buffalo Gap, and Doyle Langford of Rule; aunts, Margie Cardwell, and Gracie Griffis of Weinert. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Chelsea Tibbets, Colton Tibbets, Morgan Langford, Emerson Langford, Jaron Langford, Chesney Langford, Trenton Langford, and Jenna Langford.
Serving as pallbearers are Jackie Sanders, Jim Pratt, Bonard Drake, Eddy Leonard, Jackie Wilcox, and Mike Wilcox. Honorary pallbearers are his 2 uncles, Harley Langford, Doyle Langford; his grandsons, Colton Tibbets, Morgan Langford, Jaron Langford, and Trenton Langford; and nephews, Chad Stulir, and Brad Stulir.
Memorials can be given in Danny's name to the American Cancer Society or the Scottish Rite Hospital.
