Danny K. Weaver

March 24, 1951 — October 6, 2025

Danny. K. Weaver, 74, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, October 10, 2025, at the funeral home in Throckmorton, Texas with Sid Hargrove officiating under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00 to 7:00pm, Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the funeral home, 107 N. Austin, Throckmorton, Texas.

D.K. Weaver was born in Olney, Texas, on March 24, 1951, to Alvy M. and Iris Jean (Robinson) Weaver. He grew up with a strong work ethic, a love for life, and a knack for making people laugh.

D.K. attended Throckmorton High School, where he excelled in every sport he played—especially football. He went on to play college football before deciding to start his career and build the life he wanted.

In his younger years, he spent many seasons on harvest with his brothers and lifelong friends who became like family. He later married Luretta Putnam, and together they made their home in Throckmorton, Texas. D.K. worked at Putnam Testers before starting his own drilling company, D.K.W. Drilling. He and Luretta raised two children, Dana Kay and Blake, whom he adored.

D.K. proudly served as the Mayor of Throckmorton for twelve years. A hard-working and devoted father, he loved taking his family horseback riding and exploring the river. He taught them how to drive, saddle a horse, and start a four-wheeler without flooding it. If something broke, D.K. could fix it—often better than new.

Later in life, he moved to the Granbury area, where he welcomed his youngest child, Abigail, his pride and joy. He and Abby were inseparable. He continued working in the oilfield until retiring about ten years ago, though "retired" never really described him. D.K. always had a project—fixing cars, building carports, or working with leather. He took pride in everything he did.

D.K. truly lived life to the fullest. He never met a stranger and always had something to say—whether it made you laugh or made you think. He was full of life, humor, and heart, and his big personality left an impression on everyone he met.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who loved him immensely. His stories, laughter, and love will live on in all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter Dana Kay Myers, son Blake Weaver and his wife Kaylee: grand children, Andrew Bernhardt and his wife Ari, Baylee Turner and her husband Terry, and William Liming and his husband Michael, Chey'Anne and James Weaver, and Taylor, Ace, and Ava Cadotte; his precious baby girl Abigail; and great-grandson August Bernhardt; and his brother Mike Weaver, his children Abby and Michael Weaver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvy M. and Iris Jean Weaver, and his older brother, James Wayne Weaver.

"He has mounted up on wings like eagles, riding toward the horizon where pain and worry cannot follow."

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." – 2 Timothy 4:7

May we picture him now—riding tall, reins in hand, free beneath an endless Texas sky.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Haskell Memorial Hospital for treating D.K..like family and for the wonderful care and compassion they showed him throughout the years and in his final days.
