David Bowen, 83, of Knox City, TX, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Willow Cemetery, Haskell with Rev. Terry Bunch officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00p.m., Friday, January 26, 2018, at the funeral home, 304 N. 2nd St., Haskell, TX.
David was born April 26, 1934 in Shamrock, TX, to Mary (Gifford) and Noel Bowen. He married Virginia Kirkland on October 25, 1991 in Tyrone, OK, and in 1997 they moved to Knox City. David loved doing yard work, and was known for his beautiful yard. He owned his own wheat harvesting company for a long time before becoming a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Bowen of Knox City; three sons, Steve Bowen of Odessa, David Stiewert of Knox City, and Bobby Stiewert of Knox City; three daughters, Lila Stewart and husband Joe of Rochester, Teresa Jones and husband Chris of Cheyenne, WY, and Stacey Roussel and husband Dwayne of Prairieville, LA; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Bowen and wife Virginia of Hastings, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Gifford) Bowen; father, Noel Bowen; sister, Joann; and two brothers, Leroy, and Lloyd.
