James David Epley, "The Stud from Jud" passed away October 17, 2017 at the age of 76. Haskell County...has lost a true original. David was born in Knox City, Texas August 19, 1941. He grew up in Rochester, Texas and attended Rochester schools. David was preceded in death by parents, Theodore and Neva (Guffey) Epley and a sister, Teddye Templeton. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Frankie and children: Cary Epley and Mindy of Abilene (Jud) and his children Jeff Epley of San Angelo, Texas; Nathan Epley of Lubbock and Lyndsey Shapiro and husband Blayne of Austin; son, Greg Epley and Juli Kay of Old Glory, and his children Bailea Epley of Lubbock and Lillian and William of Old Glory: son, Darin Epley and wife Amy of New Home, Texas, and their children Rayna Jo and Waylon and daughter, Andrea Epley Schmidt and her son, Ethan Schmidt of Amarillo, Texas.
Among the many accomplishments here are a few of David's talents: he was an amazing columnist for the Twin City News, self proclaimed "Munitions Expert", farmer, wine maker/craft moonshiner, historian, welder, politician, and a founding member of the Kiowa Peak AirForce. All we can say is: he had many misadventures and we even have the pictures! He always lived life to the fullest and there was certainly never a dull moment to be had. His stories will truly be missed by all.
