David Wayne Mitchell was born a special Christmas gift to David Lee and Marietta Heuermann Mitchell on December 25, 1956. He lived in Abilene until his father's passing, when he moved to Rochester, TX. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1975, where he was active in FFA and showing pigs, a passion he has passed down to his sons, and now grandkids. David loved spending all of his spare time at the lake or deer lease with his kids and grandkids. Hunting, fishing, and spending time on his boat pulling everyone on tubes, or trying to throw them off, were his favorite past times. We'll always remember his infectious laugh and sense of humor. Oh, the stories he would tell that would have us all doubled over laughing. David was such a good man, and the hole he has left in all of our hearts will never be filled.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his fathers, David Lee Mitchell and Tony McWhorter.
He is survived by his mother, Marietta McWhorter of Rochester; love of his life, Evelyn of Lubbock; sons, Brandon Wayne and wife Stephanie, and Jarred Ross and wife Amber, both of Midland, and Hunter Martin and Bonnie of Round Rock; by his baby girl, Hailey Michelle of Lubbock; and his grandkids Kylie, Brady, Landon and Karsen all of Midland, and Hayden of Round Rock. He is also survived by his brother Jeff McWhorter of Albuquerque, NM, and sister Gail Asbill of Forney, TX, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and longtime friends.
