Davis Eugene "Windy" Murray

Davis Eugene "Windy" Murray, of Throckmorton, Texas, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Throckmorton County Memorial Hospital. Windy was 78. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Throckmorton with Rev. Peter Parker officiating. Arrangements were made under the care of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Monday evening, November 3, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
"Windy" was born September 7, 1936, in Haskell, Texas to Martha Elizabeth "Lizzy" (Fair) and Clifford Eugene "Poss" Murray. "Windy" attended Throckmorton schools and he began working on Swinson Ranch when he was 11 years old and other than serving in the U.S. Army for 2 years, he continued working the ranch until it sold. "Windy" owned WM Feed Store in Throckmorton and he was retired as a Ranch Foreman.
"Windy" loved hunting and riding. He rode saddle broncs in rodeo's and at the age of 50, he won the Ranch Bronc Riding in Abilene. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lizzy and Poss Murray; and his sister, Martha Cornett.
"Windy" is survived by his companion, Hartal Coalson of Throckmorton; sister, Nancy Cason and husband Bob of Brownwood, Texas; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Cornett of Throckmorton.
If desired, memorials can be given in "Windy's" name to the Throckmorton Senior Citizen Center or Throckmorton and Woodson Volunteer Fire Department.
