Dennis Overton

Dennis Overton, 83, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Truth Forum Church in Throckmorton, TX. with Pastor Wade Overton officiating. Burial will follow the service at Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton. A visitation is planned from 5:30 to 6:30PM, Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the funeral home, 107 N. Austin, Throckmorton, TX.

Dennis was born in Spur, TX. to V.V. and Helen Overton and was raised in Seymour, TX. He married Sharon in Crowell, TX, in 1970 and they were married for 53 years. While he was a horse hand for Waggoner's Ranch, R.A. Brown Ranch and the Buckle L Ranch and others, he was well-known as a bit and spur maker. He also was a saddle maker and he loved riding cutting horses. They had four children, Wayne Bland of Throckmorton, TX, Jodi Dana of Tyler, TX, Wade Overton of Throckmorton, TX, and Curtis Bass of Seymour, TX. Dennis attended Truth Forum Church in Throckmorton.

Dennis was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and V.V. Overton.
