Dewayne Moore, age 71, from Haskell, TX passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019 at Hendricks Medical Center surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. Dewayne was the son of Roger and Onella Doretha Ellis born on February 4, 1948 in Haskell, Texas. His mom passed away when Dewayne was a year and half old, so he was adopted and raised by his grandparents Oscar Lee and Gracie Mae Moore of Haskell. He married the love of his life, Doris Ann Gordon of Haskell on August 5, 1966 and spent 53 years by her side. Together they had three beautiful daughters.
Dewayne was a lineman for 45 years and was well respected by the men he worked with as he was one of a few who worked and was know as a hot-wire line man. He worked for several companies all over Texas and New Mexico. He built most of the powerlines out by Lake Stamford. Over the years, Dewayne worked for J.W. Buck, Chapman, and then the last part of his career he worked for Trinity Utilities in Dallas, Texas. After he retired, Dewayne loved to stay busy. He worked in the yard and was know to grow plants and take care of his property. He grew large gardens and was know to have a green thumb as he could grow anything, including his prized jack beans. He loved his chickens so much that he and his grand daughters and grandson started a chicken farm named Triple M farms. Dewayne loved to play cards, dominoes, and sit around a fire and tell stories from his long life. He was truly an outlaw and shared great stories that captured the attention of everyone he met. Most of all Dewayne loved his family. His most prized possessions were his wife, his daughters, his grandkids, and great grandkids. His eyes lit up when he saw them spent time with them. People knew he cherished him family by the pride in his voice when he spoke about them. Later in life, Dewayne lost his leg due to health issues but this never stopped him from living life. He was often seen working as hard as someone with two legs. He never asked for helped and took great pride in being independent. Many will miss seeing him riding around town on his wheelchair.
Dewayne is preceded in death by his daughter, Marsha Lynn Payne, his parents, and grandparents.
Dewayne is survived by his precious wife Doris Ann Moore of Haskell, Daughters Marilyn Ann Moore of Haskell, and Doretha Sue Robinson and husband Greg of Weatherford, Tx. Five Grandchildren, Joshua Granada and wife Jayden, of Fort Worth, Cory Robinson of Stephenville, TX, Brittany Moore and husband Tony Trevino, Braden and Ashlyn Payne of Haskell, TX. Four Great Grandchildren, Hayden Trevino, Evangeline Robinson, Haylee Trevino and Everly Granada.
A graveside service was held at 11:00a.m., Friday, August 30, 2019 at Willow Cemetery, Haskell with Rev. Rob Harrison officiating. Services were under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.
