Dick D. Dickson, 67, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 23, 2017 after a lengthy illness. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Benjamin Cemetery in Benjamin, TX under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the funeral home, 210 Avenue A., Knox City, TX.
Dick was born December 10, 1949 in Lubbock, TX to Wilson and Ernestine Dickson. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1968 where he became interested in agriculture and FFA. Dick married Carol Annette Cox on March 18, 1978 in White Settlement, TX. He was a farmer, rancher and a cowboy. He enjoyed 25 years teaching Ag Sciences and other subjects to the kids at Benjamin ISD.
He is survived by his sister, Jan Dickson Tensfield and husband Jim of Bloomfield, NM; nephews John and Jerry Tensfield of Bloomfield, NM; sisters-in-law Thelma Burt of Knox City, TX and RueAnn Cox of Midland TX; brothers-in-law Jackie Cox and wife Tippe of Ransom Canyon, TX, Bobby Cox and wife Rosemary of Runaway Bay, TX; many beloved nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol A. Dickson; and his parents Wilson and Ernestine Dickson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Benjamin Methodist Church.
