Dickie Sloan

Dickie Sloan, 77, a lifelong resident of Rochester, TX, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 1:00p.m., Monday, March 4, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, Haskell with Pastor Kirk Watson officiating. Burial will follow services at the Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.

Dickie was born December 17, 1941 in Haskell, TX, to Fychlene (Adkins) and Howard "Shorty" Sloan. He married Shirley (Young) on July 20, 1962 in Haskell, TX. Dickie loved his grandkids, cows, horses, and wife…in that order. He loved westerns and watching his kids play sports.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Sloan of Rochester; three sons, Scott Sloan and wife Shara of Sweetwater, Lance Sloan and wife Amy of Rochester, and Kurt Sloan and wife Laura of Magnolia,TX; three granddaughters, Miranda, Addison, and Carson; three grandsons, Riley, Hadley, and Cooper; brother, Tommy Sloan and wife Carolyn of Weatherford; sister, Sherry Speck and husband Danny of Knox City; and Uncle, Daniel Sloan and wife Nell of Munday.

He is preceded in death by his mother Fychlene Sloan; father, Howard "Shorty" Sloan; and sister, Rebecca Gilliam.
