Donald R. "Don" Perry, 90, a lifelong resident of Haskell, Texas passed away, Friday, June 4, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Willow Cemetery, Haskell with Pastor John Erwin officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.
Donald R. "Don" Perry was born December 18, 1930. He attended Paint Creek Schools, Tarleton State Jr. College and graduated from West Texas State College. He received a 2nd Lieutenant Army Artillery Commission while at WTSC. He then served 20 months in Germany with the 42nd Field Artillery Battalion. After being promoted to 1st Lieutenant, Mr. Perry was honorably discharged on July 10, 1956. He then served 6 more years in the inactive reserves. Mr. Perry worked for USDA (Farmers Home Adm) for 30 years. After retiring, Mr. Perry farmed cotton and wheat and raised cattle.
Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his mother and father Hoyt and Thelma (Dinsmore) Perry; 2 brothers, J.R. (Ray) Perry and Gene Perry; sister-in-law, Jeneane Perry; and brother-in-law, Wayne Blacklock.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nanette Perry of Haskell; daughter, Connie Decker and husband Gary of Stamford; grandson, James Decker and wife Lauren of Stamford; 2 granddaughters, Jessica Vaughan and husband Ryan, and Rebecca Decker both of Stamford; 2 great granddaughters, Miriam Decker, and Ruth Decker both of Stamford; sister, Frances Blacklock of Round Rock; 2 sisters-in-law, Amelia Perry of Paint Creek, and Jennabeth Kimbrough of Haskell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
