Doris Robertson Darnell went to be with her Savior, her husband, family and friends, August 25, 2014. Doris was born to Arthur C. and Mollie Harris Robertson on June 20, 1920, in Munday, Texas. She lived in the Haskell area all her life. She was a charter member of Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church. In 2005, due to health issues, she moved to Good Samaritan Denton Village and in 2009, she placed her church membership with Denton Bible.

Services will be at 1:00 at Cornerstone Fellowship, 1600 No. First Street, Haskell on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014. Pastor Tom Nelson, Denton Bible Church will officiate and Bro. Michael Holster, Second Baptist Church, Levelland will bring the special music. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday at the Funeral Home, from 6:00 until 7:00.

Doris married Burl D. Darnell on April 5, 1941, and they enjoyed 57 years together until his passing in 1998. Doris and Burl raised three daughters: Valeria Russell and husband Bill of Brownfield, Texas, Gloria Willingham and husband David of Irving, Texas, and Penny Wootton of Denton, Texas. Doris had six grandchildren: Darice Russell, Burl Russell, Vanessa Theisen (Jeff), Lena Baker (Mark), Molly Bell (Brian) and Brett Wootton (Magen). She enjoyed nine great grand-children: April Russell, Johnny and Savanna Theisen, Madeline and Hudson Bell, Kaelyn, Connor, and Carter Baker, and Layton Wootton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six brothers, and four sisters. Doris was a strong woman, having lived thru' the depression, WWII, and a family tragedy when five family members succumbed to a home fire in 1945. Doris would tell you her faith brought her through what life presented. She was a hard worker, having worked beside her husband on the farm and then at Pogue Grocery and Dick's Grocery. She was known for her ever present smile even in the latter days at Good Samaritan.

Serving as pallbearers for Doris are Bill Russell, David Willingham, Burl Russell, Brett Wootton, Jeff Theisen and Johnny Theisen.

We will miss you, Mom.
