Dorothy "Olien" Andress Elmore

Dorothy "Olien" Andress Elmore, 94, of O'Brien went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. A Private Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Rochester Cemetery. The service and burial will be under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. There will be a public viewing on Friday 3-8 pm and Saturday 8-11 am, but will be no public visitation. Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.smithfamilyfh.com . Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Olien, who was named after her maternal grandmother, was born October 29, 1926 in Haskell County to Oscar Herley Andress and Willie Lackey Andress. At the age of 9, her father, a farmer and Baptist minister, passed away. She and her younger siblings were raised by a strong, hardworking mother who always put her children first. Olien met and married Ray Elmore of O'Brien on December 11, 1943 prior to his deployment during World War II.

After the War, Ray graduated from McMurry College and was ordained as a Methodist minister. Together they served numerous churches located throughout of the Northwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Olien was a devoted mother to her four children and served as a pastor's spouse with grace and dedication. She also worked as an Income Tax Preparer for H&R Block for many years. She enjoyed hobbies in crafting, crossword puzzles, Sudoku and playing 42 with other retired pastors and spouses. Her greatest love was of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed supporting them in their various activities.

Olien was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray, her brothers Herley, Jr. and Rev. Kenneth Andress, her sister Melva Everett, her brother-in-law Felton Everett and many beloved Elmore sister-in laws and brother-in-laws.

She is survived by her children: daughter Judy Elmore of Abilene; 3 sons, David and wife Brenda of Coahoma, Joe and wife Gloria of Texarkana, Randy and wife Rhonda of Amarillo; her five grandchildren, Brent and wife Heidi Elmore of Crawford, Tori and husband Andres of Midland, Kim Hardin of Temple, Eric Elmore of Denver, Co., Kaitlin Elmore of Fort Collins, Co.; her five great-grandchildren, Tristan Martinez of Canyon, Peyton Elmore of Crawford, Kyle Martinez of Midland, Laney Elmore of Crawford, and Max Martinez of Midland. She is also survived by sister-in-law Betty Andress of San Angelo and sister-in-law Peggy Elmore of Abilene, one aunt, Frieda Fly of Baird, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to Knox City United Methodist Church, Methodist Children's Home, Hendrick Hospice Care or the charity of your choice.
