Dorothy Virginia Carver

April 22, 1923 — July 28, 2014

Dorothy Virginia Carver, longtime resident of Knox City, Texas passed away Monday, July 28, 2014 at Knox County Hospital in Knox City. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Rochester Cemetery in Rochester with Rev. Tim Trimble and Paul Chambers officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Wednesday evening, July 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home located at 210 Ave. A in Knox City, Texas.

Dorothy was born April 22, 1923, in Knox City, Texas to Ana Adiline (Mashburn) and H. M. Warren. A graduate of Knox City High School, Dorothy married Odell Carver on September 8, 1940, at Cotton Co. Oklahoma in Walters, Oklahoma. Dorothy took care of anyone that needed help and enjoyed sewing. She drove for Knox County Meals on Wheels.

She was a devoted member to the First United Methodist Church in Knox City for 80 years since September of 1933.

She is preceded in death by her parents, H.M. and Ana Warren of Knox City; husband, Odell Carver of Knox City; brothers, Fred and Hollis Warren; sister, Anna Lou Warren; son, Craig Carver; grandson, Ricky Carver; and great-great granddaughter, Paisley Laird.

Dorothy is survived by sons, Fred Carver and wife Jan of Benjamin, Texas and John Carver and wife Patty of Taft, Texas; grandchildren, Tammy Lyles and husband Mike of Benjamin, Texas, Anna Stasia Antilley and husband Gary of Wingate, Texas, Riley Carver and wife Stephanie of Knox City, Texas, Lacy Curry and husband Jerry of Spring, Texas, Virginia Sneed of Canton, Texas, and Laura Ann Carver of Austin, Texas; daughter-in-law, Susan Carver; 15 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; special niece, Marsha McBride; numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 406 SE 2nd St, Knox City, Texas 79529.
